Hold On Im Coming - Various - New Directions 2 (CD)

amazing compilation of mod and soul from one of my favorite labels, past and present put out some of the best comps and reissues i own in the past 8 or 9 years, i love the label, you will (as with all there releases) get the more obscure tracks and bands as well as unknowns from 40 some odd year old acadates, great stuff but my only complaint here is there is no information on the artists 5/5(1).

  1. New Directions is mainly an instrumental offering, with fantastic vocals on a few songs and spoken word on one. The musicianship on New Directions is top notch and so is the sound and production. The songs flow seamlessly into each other, and since the sound is so warm, it works beautifully as an easy listening album /5(4).

  2.  · New Directions (a quartet with Jack DeJohnette on drums and piano, guitarist John Abercrombie, trumpeter Lester Bowie and bassist Eddie Gomez) is a group that never seemed to live up to its this set of three DeJohnette compositions (including the wittily titled "Where or Wayne") and two group improvisations, the music is a bit dull, making too much use of space and featuring less /10(70).
