Try Anything Once (Airbird Remix) - Korallreven - Try Anything Once (CD)
For this reason, I recommend getting your hands on a copy and try it again, and again, and again. To paraphrase, "you can't just listen to it once! While Eric Woolfson went on to work in musical theater, Alan Parsons, as well as several other key creative figures from The Project, soldiered on and created Try Anything Once. Now I love Woolfson's songwriting prowess, but the time had long since come to let Ian Bairnson and Andrew Powell out of their confining boxes.
The result was one of the best albums in or out of the extended Parsons' catalog. It's almost easier to name the one or two songs I didn't care for than to extoll sufficient praise on the rest.
That said, there are a few songs here that have really become life-long favorites of mine. Based on Try Anything Once (Airbird Remix) - Korallreven - Try Anything Once (CD) incident in California remembered by singer-songwriter David Pack where a distraught widow jumped to her death from a pier, it is as close to perfect as a song can get.
Lyrically, musically, and production-wise, this song just edges out several others for my favorite on the album. Mercifully, the song does not mention that this woman also took her two children with her. But a number of close seconds come immediately to mind. The majestic Siren Song paints such images in the listener's mind of lost islands and the lost souls lured to them.
Guitar virtuoso Ian Bairnson steps into the limelight with the album's leading single Turn It Up while Alan Parsons makes light of his fascination with magic tricks and how sleight of hand makes its way into everyday life on Wine From The Water.
Listening to this album through the quadraphonic matrix on my Onkyo receiver was like hearing it for the first time all over again even though I had had the album for nearly a dozen years by then.
The best demonstration of quadraphonic separation came from Breakaway which is about as close to a true surround experience from a stereo source as I have ever personally heard. The ambient nature of Dreamscape was amplified in quad, but with the former was a complete separation of individual elements into the surround field See all reviews. Top reviews from other countries.
The album kicks off with the track 'The Three of Me' which is probably the weakest track on the album. I thought this may not bode well and I may have wasted my money. From track two on the album is just amazing. The musicianship particularly the guitar work is very David Gilmour and in parts reminiscent of Mike Oldfield especially on 'Jigue' is what you would expect from an Alan Parsons album with superb contributions from ex 10cc's Eric Stewart and ex Manfred Manns Earth Band Chris Try Anything Once (Airbird Remix) - Korallreven - Try Anything Once (CD) amongst others.
I read some of the reviews on this album and particularly Alan Parsons later output without the Project saying it was patchy but I have really enjoyed this album on first listen.
It can only get better from here on in. You may have to pay a bit more than average to get a copy of this album now but it's a purchase you won't regret. One person found this helpful. This album is not the full APP, but is still Alan Parsons with a range of good musical collaborators and some vocalists, particular of note for me being Chris Thompson of Manfred Mann Earthband fame. This album has a range of rock, and a little bit of folk and classical themes in the tracks, very enjoyable good music.
OK set of tunes enlivened by the presence of the rock God known as Eric Stewart ex 10cc sadly as with most of Parsons later albums a crap cover. Not a bad effort and certainly better then his more recent efforts. The music is fine, as is always the case with AP. The quality of the actual CD leaves a lot to be desired, with it skipping on three of the tracks, which spoils the listening experience.
I purchased it at a very reasonable and can't be bothered with sending it back. I will just presevere with it, but not use the seller again. Report abuse. This is a solo album by Alan Parsons but laced with his former band members. Although not as consistent as the usual Alan Parsons Project albums it has very good tracks on it remnant of the earlier APP's albums.

The album features completely digital recording and mixing. There is an Easter egg inside the inlay. One of the pictures is a stereogram ; when the viewer looks at it correctly, an image of a man and woman upside down will appear, similar to the other pictures in the album's artwork. This image is also on the CD itself. From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.
