It features the only use of his famous to blues players bass string riff in Part 2 of the tune. SRV used it several times. He vamps it up with a meaty solo. I have never fully believed that that track is really live- oh well, it is effective! The solo has true King-style bending. I've been trying to find the best blues cds out there, and I bought this one because I heard Albert King sing in an old concert movie Wattstax.

Most of the songs sound like the title track itself and I love that. King sings with real emotion and he's one of the greatest blues singers I've heard in a long time.

I rate this album even better than B. King's album "Why I Sing the Blues", which is also an excellent album to listen to. I'm looking forward to buying another Albert King cd album! Nuff said. Albert King is still among the blues greats. I'll play the blues for you and feel like breaking up somebody's home are timeless classics.

If this doesn't just move you all the way down to your soul, you better check your pulse. Sweet sound done with all the feeling of a true blues master. This one is sure to satisfy. Remastered only makes it come to life, close your eyes and let it take you away. Albert King might be said to be the blues yin to B. King's yang. There's a brooding sort of cynicism, even when he's wooing a pretty young girl "I'll Play the Blues for You" , but also more openly in "Laundromat Blues" and "Breaking up Somebody's Home.

This is my second purchase of this CD -- quite simply, I wore the first one out. If you're new to Albert King, this would be a fine introduction. Heard a lot about Albert King through the years.

So thought Id take a chance, glad I did! This is a great album from one of the premiere blues guitar players and singers. The title track is melodic and engaging. One of my favorite tracks is Answer to the Laundromat Blues, it is a funny story with great music, I can only imagine seeing him do this live This really is a great collection. Albert King remaster worth the price for the alternate take of I'll Play the Blues for You, but beyond that probably among Alberts' best studio albums.

There are a couple things though that at the time were brilliant are now annoying, like the fake live audience on one track. Overall if you like the Blues this is a good purchase. See all reviews. Top reviews from other countries. This album along with his Born Under a Bad Sign is essential for any blues collection.

Add to his guitar work the soul-funk infusion underlying the Stax backing sound and the result is, really, a different kind of blues, certainly for its day. His voice throughout is warm and casual, even chatty, and his guitar a stinging whip of high, bended notes that speak of all things blues — bad luck and trouble. Skip to content Search for:.
