Mike Vernon. These vocals reveal how much better this band is compared to George Thorogood, who is someone that never impressed me. The lyrics sort of remind me of the ones in "I Drink Alone" but way better. This is a pretty straightforward melody but has enough going for it that it's enjoyable.
Almost TOO sad! How creepy is this? The first few notes of "Anji" actually sound like the intro to the Stones "Angie! I was sitting in the living room and it just started playing.
How odd. Anyway this song has a flow to the guitar similar to Mason Williams "Classical Gas" which of course means it's awesome. What's going on lately? I hear "Roadhouse Blues" everywhere! Anyway this is probably my least favorite song on Ton Chicken, but it's still decent blues. Overall, probably one of the weaker Chicken Shack albums but you know, I can't really compare it to the other ones because this is based on fairly standard blues rock.
That makes it hard to criticize or love so it's somewhere in the middle. Enjoyable at any rate. How can you resist an album that goes by the name Ton Chicken? Well the very bad album cover might turn you away so you might want to ignore that picture!
One of my favorite blues bands due to Webb's guitar playing, blues wailing and sense of humor--quite a funny lead man. Saw them around at an outdoor concert in a Frankfurt stadium -- sort of a Woodstock type of affair. Chicken Shack apparently had a cult following, looking at the way the crowd moved to the front when they played. They were also going to be the back up band for Chuck Berry, but he walked off the stage over a money issue, and the Shack played their own stuff.
Sadly, I gave Ton Chicken to a friend when I returned stateside. Oh well. See all reviews. Top reviews from other countries. Translate all reviews to English.
Great album ,I bought the original in with some Christmas money. I prefer the first two with Christine Perfect. This album always brings back memories. Always loved the band, ever since the sixties when I first saw them down in the smoke!
Product was good. Ein Idol meiner Jugend. Solch schlechte Qualitaet sollte man keinem anbieten. Report abuse Translate review to English. Un classico del blues Inglese con Stan the Man in grande spolvero Limited gm vinyl LP pressing. Originally released in , the album was Paul Raymond's first album as a member of Chicken Shack.
Terence Ibbott was in charge of the album artwork, which was bizarre as always. The recordings sounded quite different and gave the Shack what they were looking for - a 'heavier' sound. Have one to sell? Sell on Amazon.
