If you have tried collecting pre-CD albums you no doubt know that "digitally remastered" can mean different things and the only way to know if one is really good or not is to hear it for your self or have some one else tell you from their own experience.
I am here to tell you that this great collection should not disappoint but rather delight any Firefall fan who wants the convenience of digital and the warmth and depth of analog. I have these albums on vinyl and the remastering here is comparable to the rich sound in the original grooves.
There are so many remastered works of great music out there that are almost ruined by tinny sounding, over-compressed digital conversion practices. It is so refreshing to find a really expertly done remastering that respects the music on occasion and this is one of those times.
Of course the music contained here is superb- FIrefall was known as a top forty radio band but here is a talented bunch of musicians and song writers with all the skills and abilities of groups like the Eagles and these albums demonstrate that.
It all comes down to a matter of individual tastes but if you check out the resume for the band members you will find quite an impressive story there which by the way is contained in the booklet that comes with this set. But the real proof is in the music. Get this two disc set- it is risk free! This set includes their first 7 singles previously mentioned songs, plus "Cinderella", "So Long", "Goodbye, I Love You" and "Strange Way" Firefall put out three great albums before the "business" of the "music business" got to them.
Other than splitting up "Luna Sea" between the 2 disc the sound is impressive, compare to the sound of the 95' single disc remastered 'Elan, that was very good. This set could be better but I don't know what "masters tapes" were used, but they sound great! All albums sound great, it's to have these album to play again. Firefall is one those bands that you liked when you were much younger but ,for some reason, you don't remember the name when shopping for music.
They don't seem to occur to you until you hear the name again. Then the memories come back and you don't know why you had not thought of them before.
With me, several bands just seem to slip through the cracks, then once I hear the name again I quickly buy them. I had one of those "Oh yeah ", moments upon hearing the name Firefall. Was delighted to find this 3 album collection.
Looking forward to listening. Great compilation of this band's first three albums on two CDs. Top-notch songwriting all around, even on the songs that weren't mega hits, as well as good production values. I am happy that these three albums are now available. I am familiar with the hits that they had but there are a couple of hidden gems. It is a very enjoyable song to listen to when on the road. One person found this helpful. Go to Amazon.
