Rory Gallagher Calling Card

Rory Gallagher Calling Card

I own it in both cd and now vinyl which is in my own opinion, the best way to listen to music. See all reviews. Top reviews from other countries. All of the CD studio remasters released by UMC contain updated sleeve insert photos and track comments. There is no remix meddling this time; these are as the original releases. All have bonus track s except Deuce. Excellent sound quality throughout and the content needs no further comment other than it is Rory Gallagher doing what only he and his co-musicians could; a unique sound and a massive influence on many players that have followed.

Reviewed in the United Kingdom on September 2, Images in this review. Absolutely brilliant so many different styles the man was a genius.

I took a star off for the woman interviewing rory on the album. I'd have preferred her edited out and just the songs. Good god she's annoying. To the music. The performances are as usual brilliant and the recording quality really good. Great album and well worth buying. Report abuse. Oh my The feeling with which he plays is second to none, and that also goes for the rest of the band.

I am unable to put into words how unique the talent of this man is. The world lost a master of music. I was thinking of doing one ages ago. But, as I said, I have this block about singles. How would you react to being pushed into a big hype situation? Like having a single out to me means you have to kind of wear a funny hat for a week. You perform a fair amount of acoustic material in your sets now. Where do your preferences lie? With the raunchy stuff or the acoustic?

For Rory Gallagher to start making any radical departures from established style at this stage in the game would not only be out of character but also tantamount to musical hara-kiri or whatever the Irish equivalent may be. The fact is that Gallagher is a master craftsman who knows his limitations and is more concerned with striving for lasting perfection within them than making transient innovations. In terms of the integrity with which he joins these two passions, he recalls Peter Green, whose tasteful guitar defined the original Fleetwood Mac.

Calling Card moves deftly through various blues-rock styles, and while neither his vocals nor his lyrics are particularly arresting, they complement the sure craft with which the songs were written. Tough and tight, they lay down a sound that calls attention to itself only when you find it consistently returning to your turntable.

In three solo appearances, Gallagher builds the tension with sharp lines that bubble with raw excitement until they burst into flurried notes as the song fades. Such fluent variety is precisely his Calling Card. As you imagine the scene and listen to the track, you can hear the intimacy and warmth they felt for each other.
