But he may also have an answer, in the shape of the closing My Youth. A desolate mediation on ageing, it's the best thing here, and there's not a hint of the dusty tracks about it. Pop and rock. Great album. Oleson Top Contributor: Game of Thrones. I stumbled upon Steve while watching a streamed video concert from Australia where he was performing a one man show. I found him a bit unusual. First he's redneck white but sounds like old time soulful blues. He adds a bit of country and cajun and folk to some of the songs.
The last track is a long personal story that isn't all that funny and way too long. Still he's worth a listen if you are a lover of the Blues. One person found this helpful. This is one of my favorite Seasick Steve albums. He has a great voice, plays interesting guitar, and brings along real blues from his own experiences. Fun lyrics too. If you love Steve you'll love this. More good stuff. I liked his performances onbritish yv shows and at Glastonbury so time to get hismusic.
See all reviews. Top reviews from other countries. My brother had been on at me for a while to buy a Seasick Steve album and give his bluesy, bluegrass, folky music a try. Steve introduces some songs with humorous asides and the last track finishes up with a tale from Steve's life living on the road. His music is as infectious as his story telling and once you buy one album I can guarantee you'll be searching out the others. Great, foot tapping, slide blues to get you smiling and singing along with.
Feel free to check out my blog which can be found on my profile page. Great Album, gets to be a favourite this one if you like Seasick. My second copy, as I wore the other one out I think.
I couldn't believe what I saw and heard!! Some tracks are rocky, others quieter. On the whole this a very well balanced CD. Steve reminds me of J J Cale for some reason, although in reality his style is quite different. I like Steve's intros to some songs, it makes it kind of more natural to listen to, as if he is on your back porch about to play his songs just for you.
Incidentally, the guy is a good raconteur; there is a pleasant surprise folowing the final track, so if you buy this CD, don't switch your player off too soon!! I like all the tracks but find the tracks on this recording a bit repetitive sounding. Good recording quality.
