Verified Purchase. I love guitar players. I have a lot of SRV music. This is a good cd. This is guitar playing and the blues. The last song they performed is over 24 minutes. Both men broke their guitar strings. Just another hard to believe artistic grand slam by maybe the most skilled guitar player that will ever live!

I always wondered how many guitar strings were left on the floor after he shreds so many during a concert. As a result, I was quick to snatch this re-issue up, what with more uncovered live material from I don't need to go into much detail in reviewing the basic album Couldn't Stand The Weather.

From the ripping Scuttle Buttin' to the red-hot cover of Hendrix's Voodoo Child to the ultra-passionate reading of Tin Pan Alley, this album covers all the bases and hits a home run! Regarding the extra live material In fact, there is absolutely no bass And even doing that obviously doesn't really fix it. Disappointing, but Stevie's performance in the live tracks will make you forget any eq woes in pretty short order! His playing is just phenomenal!! Better than El Mocambo!

He was definitely extra inspired that evening The extra studio tracks sound great, of course. There is some overlap between this release and past "vault" issues like "The Sky is Crying" posthumous album , but that's only to be expected. I like the arrangements of some of the studio outtakes, where Stevie has to fill in more where Reese Wynans would add to later on, like "Little Sister".

Reese is great, of course, but this just adds to the variety of SRV material to listen to. So I recommend this release even for SRV fans who already own one or all lol of the previous versions of this album!

The Legacy Edition is great!! I can best describe the live version of Texas Flood as scorching hot! Before the Stevie Ray Vaughan Legacy Edition albums I was skeptable of bonus tracks and added live tracks because all to often a CD from many recording artists involve getting more and enjoying much less.

I have come to find that too many people will buy anything that's released and rate it good to great, when that is not the case. A fan of Stevie Ray Vaughan cannot go wrong, buy with confidence and have fun!!! I would give this 10 stars if that was an available rating. Maybe I'm biased as I like this style of music, but everyone always enjoys hearing this CD, no matter what type of music they normally listen to, whenever I put this one on.

Listening to this music always makes me think what a loss we had by Stevie's early death. The musicianship in this recording is simply superb. Great tunes too! One person found this helpful. I bought this for the 3 studio unreleased outtakes and the live, unreleased concert.

While the album was put together in a hurry following a frenzy of recording and touring during that year, the spirited energy works perfectly within this snapshot of musical lightening. Vaughan had been an active musician since he was a teenager in the late s, performing in groups called Brooklyn Underground and Southern Distributor. Bassist Tommy Shannon first heard Vaughn play at a Dallas club and they later began performing together in a band called Krackerjack. Around this time, Vaughn also gained experience as a studio session musician and by sitting in with blues legends like Buddy Guy, Jimmy Rogers and Albert King and groups such as ZZ Top.

However, recognition of the group outside of Texas would take nearly a half decade when record producer Jerry Wexler recommended them for the Montreux Jazz Festival, where there controversial performance later released on DVD in September garnered widespread attention.
