Great sound quality without losing anything or sanitising it. Down and dirty, uncut and live. A punchy, bass-rumbling opener in "Live With Me" that rocks like the a canine's nether equipment.
The Stones were really on fire live in For me, the live stuff from beats "Get Your Ya-Ya's", but that's just my personal taste. No doubting that The Stones were cooking in this period though. It really doesn't get much better than this. In they could still get away with this song. Great guitar and vocal. My God, Mick Taylor was good. Very clear sound though.
Laid back and almost a bit jazzy as opposed to bluesy at the beginning, then the riff and harmonica takes over. I can never tire of hearing this. A great rendition of an often-played song here. Still a relatively new song to play live and the enthusiasm shows. Jumpin' Jack Flash 2.
Live With Me 3. Dead Flowers 4. Stray Cat Blues 5. Love In Vain 6. Midnight Rambler 7. Bitch 8. Honky Tonk Women 9. I Can't Get No Satisfaction Little Queenie Brown Sugar Street Fighting Man Let It Rock Originally recorded in mono for BBC radio broadcast, the show from the short UK tour in Spring , would appear to have been excellently remastered, in stereo. You feel as if you are there. The sound is slightly better on "Roundhouse" but no real matter, just good to get this gig remastered and official, at last.
Funnily enough, "Leeds" was from 13th March That one of those vagaries of touring I guess. Some nights are better than others. No zip? My first ever Rolling Stones purchase in the 's was this very record and probably my favourite Stones album despite what some say about Exile on Main St being better though that's probably my second fave. Now replaced, as the original is sadly worse for wear, with a fabulous remastered copy which sounds absolutely gorgeous through headphones especially.
Not really much to say about the music that hasn't already been said except it is an essential purchase for your collection as it's such a classic. If I have one gripe - though not worth marking down for - the cover is a just a photograph where the original has a proper zip on the cover - but then I've got that! One or two changes had taken place in the Rolling stones, since their last album release - Let it bleed a classic by the way ,in New guitarist Mick Taylor succeeding the late Brian Jones, and no recordings of new material in two years.
With the anticipated release of Sticky fingers and lead single Brown sugar - they produced an all time classic single and album. Stones fans needn't have worried. Apart from the perennial rock classic - the said Brown sugar,The whole album is packed with uplifting, rock and blues gems; Bitch and sister morphine are just two prime examples of this.
Mick and Keith's song writing partnership,is maintained on sticky fingers, and the original co-production by Jimmy Miller and this re-master, are both excellent in sound quality.
The musicianship and vocals from all main band members and session musicians eg;Billy Preston,Nicki Hopkins and Bobby Keys he of memorable sax solo on Brown sugar ,certainly make their mark on this truly excellent album. This package includes; previously unshown? Photographs of the band, with lyrics and recording credits. If you want to expand on the Sticky fingers experience: then expanded deluxe and super-deluxe editions are available. What is special about this 2CD edition, is that the bonus disc manages to hit that high standard.
First up the prospect of Brown Sugar featuring Eric Clapton, this sounds too good to be true and probably is, the extra guitar simply gets in the way.
Needed to be included for compare and contrast reasons, but it fails to be another While My Guitar or Badge. Exit Clappers and enter languid, beautiful, acoustic, steely powerful, Wild Horses. Jagger is on fine form and whatever Richards is doing Taylor matches it. To dissect further would shatter the magic. Can You Hear Me Knocking is more an instrumental work out than a proper take, but everyone is giving it everything for an extended Bitch, crystal clear production putting the listener in the centre of things.
The final studio outtake is Dead Flowers, in ramshackle hillbilly country finery. The rest of the disc is taken up by performances from The Roundhouse, the final show of a short UK tour. Here the Stones are at their finest. Agile, cock-sure, poised. To my ears this knocks spots off YaYas with even a skittish Midnight Rambler coming close to its elder brother. Top of the shop a mercurial Love In Vain, brooding and beautiful, only a sloppy end of tour Honky Tonk breaks the spell.
Presentation wise, everything comes in sturdy packaging with period photos but little text. Still when the music is this good lapses can be forgiven. One person found this helpful. The album itself is 5 stars any time - their best in my view.
This is not because the two extra CDs are in any way deficient - they're both great, with thundering alternative takes on several tracks, and storming live performances - especially the third CD, "Get Yer Leeds Lungs Out".
If I have a quibble it's with the rather pointless DVD included, which consists of a miserly 3 tracks - all from their Marquee Club live performance. The 45rpm single is certainly a very hefty piece of vinyl, especially compare to my flimsy original "Brown Sugar" original single - could probably take someone's head off at 50 metres!
The book includes many excellent photos, some not previously seen. Some of these are also included as postcard type inserts. I have also gained a stand-up Mick Taylor figure. Worth it for the committed fan.
Most would probably be perfectly happy with the 2 CD package. Deals related to this item See all deals. The Black Crowes. The Beatles. On the Air, in the Studio and in Concert Box 8cd.
